COGNITIVELY PROCESSED EXPERIENTIAL THERAPY

What is CPET and What makes it so Effective?

The field of psychotherapy is shifting away from it's heavy reliance on cognition-based practices in favor of a more balanced approach. Cognitively-Processed Experiential Therapy (CPET) is a system that integrates both the rational left hemisphere of the brain with the emotional/relational right hemisphere of the brain, allowing for rapid insight, expanded processing, and continued application.  Clients are supported as they participate in a series of structured activities designed to stimulate right brain activity, feelings, emotions, and perceptions, which can then be recognized and integrated into left brain awareness and conscious problem solving. Not only do clients learn directly through experience but all activities include a period of conscious processing to allow belief systems, assumptions, response tendencies, and emotional reactions to be examined.
